Conversations with AI Personas is a key feature in LearnAI that helps bring the case studies alive and immerse the learners in the subject.
This guide will go in-depth on how to use the AI Persona Conversation feature and the AI Feedback feature.
AI Persona Convesations
The vast majority of LearnAI experiences feature the ability for the learners to speak with AI Personas of characters related to the case study.
The personas are available in three modalities: Text, Voice, and Video.
When arriving ath the AI Persona step of an experience, you will first have a Demo block where you can show the class how to chat with the bot.
Important note: you will be prompted to allow permissions for the browser to use your microphone in order to enable the conversations to work.
On the left side of the screen, you will see the "Contacts" bar. If an experience has more than one persona, you will be able to switch between them by clicking their name
On the top-right side, you will find the buttons to switch between the different modalities.
Note: by design, not every persona is available in all three modalities
The Modalities
As mentioned above, the AI personas are available in three modalities:
Text
A text conversation with the persona. The persona will usually start with asking a question, and you can respond by typing in the box and clicking on arrow button on the right and carry the conversation from there.
Voice
Using your microphone, you can speak with the persona freely.
After switching to this modality, click the green phone button to initiate the call.
When you are finished with the call, click the red phone button to conclude it.
Video
Similar to Voice conversations, you will use the microphone to speak to the AI persona, only this time you can see the persona as you converse.
After switching to this modality, click the "Start Conversation" button to initiate the video call.
When you are finished with the call, click the red phone button to conclude it.
Learner Conversations
Once you have demonstrated to the class how to use the AI conversations feature, you can click on the "Next Step" button to move on to the Learner conversations.
While the learners engage on their devices with the personas, the educator screen will show the number of learners currently engaging in conversation. The conversation step usually has a time limit, but you can end the step early by clicking the "End Conversations" button on the bottom-left corner.
Important note: remind your learners that they will be prompted to allow permissions for the browser to use their microphone in order to enable the conversations to work.
The learners will see a similar screen to the demo screen, allowing them to switch between modalities with the buttons on the top-right corner, and to switch to a different persona (if available) by clicking the arrow button on the top-left corner.
AI Feedback
Some experiences feature an AI Feedback step after the conversation with the AI personas.
On this step, learners will have a text conversation with a feedback bot who will asses their conversations with the AI personas (through all used modalities) and provide them with feedback, talking about what they did well, what they can improve, and what questions were the most important to ask.
Like conversations, this block is timed, but you can cut it short at any time by clicking the "End Feedback" button.
